Back to Bataan, Eugene worked at the Export Processing Zone Electronics Industries, first at Selectra Electronics and later supervisor at Wilson Electronics after his engineering course in 1979.
Baruela, Ed. After passing his mechanical engineering board exams in the late 70’s, Ed was expatriate engineer in Saudi Arabia at Aramco. He is married to Christina Santiago, a registered nurse. Settling first in Montreal in 1981, he is with St. Michael’s Hospital’s rehabilitation engineering department now and does part-time contracting work.
Birondo, Ed K. Ed finished BS Textile Engineering at FEATI and BS Industrial Engineering at Adamson University; served with Manila Cordage Company and was instrumental in the establishment of the standards for polyamide and polyethelene ropes for Philippine Standard Association, Inc. He is closely associated with (at the same time officer of) a bowling league and held variety of positions in the association before becoming the second president. He is employed with the Metro Toronto Police Public and Internal Communications.
Buiza, Julio Jr. His friends call him Nonoy. After earning his BSME degree, he served in Vietnam for five years and thereafter got employed in the GSIS. Committed to being outstanding, he was Air ROTC Model Cadet, a Bicol Varsitarian top gun and consistent Class Officer. He served the association as President for nine progressive years. Working as a government shift engineer is not enough to keep himself busy - he also teaches Computer at Metro Labor Center. Affiliations include membership to the prestigious Kof C and once served as VP-Treasurer of STAC. Behind all these successes in life is his lovely and very supportive wife, Annie Taay, also an alumna.
Cespedes, Ramon. A De la Salle University BSME alumnus, Mon was mathematics lecturer at FEATI and held engineering management positions at San Miguel Corporation and Colgate Palmolive, Philippines. A very active officer of the association, he is a quality assurance engineer at Magna International’s KTM Locks plant in Woodbridge.
Ibe, Sonny. Sonny graduated in 1972 with a BSME degree and operated an automotive repair business in San Francisco del Monte, Q.C. before coming to Canada in 1975. He served for more than two decades as building superintendent with Olympia and York Property Development. Sonny and wife Bernie spend time to relax in their Peterborough cottage and enjoy the luxury of speed boating and fishing.
Jayme, Carmen. Carmen, a 1969 FEATI alumna in chemistry, was a schoolteacher in Laos and the home country for five years and Nigeria for eleven years before coming to Ontario seven years ago. Happily married to Architect Caloy Jayme, she works nights at CIBC Utility Bills processing center
Martin, Lito. Lito-san, a 1969 BSME graduate, had taught refrigeration at FEATI and Guzman Tech; was a topnotch sales engineer at Fedders, Philippines. He works as a maintenance foreman at Canadian Airlines. Aside from being a stalwart member of the famous Philippine Heritage Band, he is also affiliated with the exclusive Freemasonry and OACETT.
Muyot, Joe. Awarded with a Chemical Engineering degree in 1968, Joe was product development engineer at General Textiles Company; he hails from Bicolandia, the laing country. One of the Filipino émigré’s in the 70’s, he has established himself at the laboratories of US-based Schenectady Chemical Company.
Olay, Ronaldo. Rudy obtained his BSEE in 1958 and was employed at two top Philippine manufacturing firms: Ysmael Steel and Philacor’s product design division. As a designer in instrumentation and control at Fenco-Maclaren Consulting Engineers, Inc., he developed various design portfolios especially in waste management engineering field.
Peregil, Rene. An architect by training and profession, Rene worked as a planner at the Department of Public Works and the Development Academy of the Philippines. Mississauga Hydro is happy to have him as a supervisor of Roadway Lighting Design, Operations and Maintenance Division.
Rey, Oliver. A licensed Electrical Engineer in the Philippines, shortly after graduating with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1985 at FEATI University, he joined the faculty of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department. During his teaching career in FEATI, he pursued graduate studies program and completed Master of Arts degree, major in Administration and Supervision at MMC. He was also a reviewer at various engineering review centers in Manila before migrating to Canada in 1989. In 1994, he obtained his diploma in Electronics Engineering Technology and graduated at Humber College
with honors. Currently he is employed with Harris Corporation - BCD as Senior Systems Integration Engineer and Automation Leader in the R&D division. His affiliation includes membership to the Canadian Amateur Radio and Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineer (SMPTE).
Reyes, John. A graduate of B.S. ECE in 1974, John was production manager at Realtone Corporation (Phil.) prior to migrating to Canada with wife Linda Bartolome and family. He holds a certificate in Electronics Technology and works as a Field Representative of the Canadian Standards Association. John is a member of the Association of Certified Electrical Inspectors.
San Juan, Tony. Tony received his bachelor’s degree at FEATI and Masters at MLQU; was supreme student council president and Tauan frat first member; taught in manila and Nigeria and an ex-ANSCOR staffer. He is married to Jocelyn Acuna, a high school alumna. Formerly a University of Toronto staff member, he worked towards teacher accreditation in Ontario and currently licensed technology teacher at the City of York region Boards of Education.
Serapio, Eric. Being a Mechanical engineer and student pilot, Eric loves scouting and military related activities; he was mechanical plant engineer at SMC’s Polo Brewery Plant. A Golden Vision Lions Club and K of C Officer, he is now a Chief Operating Engineer at Canadian Forces Base, Ministry of Defence; he is also a licensed first class Stationary Engineer.
Sison, Levi. Levi is a licensed Associate and Professional Electrical Engineer and served at Philight Company after his 1965 graduation and marriage to Juliet de Goma, a Spanish teacher. Distinctively one of the few Filipino Professional Engineers (member of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO)) accredited in Canada, he is a project Engineer at Ontario Hydro; did Advanced Power System Analysis Course at University of Toronto University of Toronto.
Yabut, Pete. A classmate of President Buiza, Pete obtained his degree in mechanical Engineering in the 60’s; then worked at Reynolds Aluminum, Philippines. Having worked at CN and Good Year Tire, he dabbles in Real Estate brokerage and property development and works at Dominion Colours Co.
